School Technology for Students--Overview:

All HKMS students will be assigned a Chromebook with a protective case to use for the entire school year. 6th and 7th graders will only have access to their Chromebooks during the school day. They will not take them home. 8th graders will take their Chromebooks to and from school. They will also receive a charger to keep at home. No personal devices are allowed.

Key Highlights of Student Responsibility Statements:

Grades Six and Seven

I will return my Chromebook to my morning-meeting charging station every day!
I will make sure to carefully bring my device to all classes.
I will use my school-issued device for academic purposes only.
I will not send personal messages to friends using my school Gmail or other messaging tools.
I will not conduct internet searches for non-school related topics or use my device to access social media.
I will NOT play video games on my Chromebook.

Grade Eight

I will charge my Chromebook each night to full capacity and bring it to school every day!
I will remember that I can only borrow a Chromebook 5 times total for the school year, so I will make sure to bring my device to school every day fully charged.
I will use my school-issued device for academic purposes only
I will not send personal messages to friends using my school Gmail.
I will not conduct internet searches for non-school-related topics or use my device to access social media.
I will NOT play video games on my Chromebook.

During the first weeks of school, teachers will take time to thoroughly review the ER9 Middle School device expectations (linked below) as well as the newly updated ER9 Acceptable Use Policy (also linked below). Students will have a chance to ask questions to fully understand these documents and the outlined expectations.

Parents and Guardians will review and sign off on this information in the PowerSchool Portal prior to accessing student schedules.
