Term 2

Numeracy

In P2b we have been looking at ways to quicken our mental maths skills.  One way of doing this has been through Number Talks.  We have enjoyed completing some Target Practice, helping us find different ways of reaching a target number.  Have a look at some of our solutions below.

What do you think of our solutions so far?

We have learned lots of hand signals to use such as when we have a solution and when we agree with someone else's solution.

We used meter sticks to measure larger objects and our height.

Here's more of our number work and some examples of number statements we have created...

French

During November and December we were learning all about different foods and drinks in French.  We played games to help us remember the names, we sang some songs and even read The Hungry Caterpillar in French.  We also wrote some shopping lists and went shopping.

SPAce

The children loved learning about the planets in our solar system as well as some famous astronauts including Neil Armstrong!

'It was so much fun'

'It was so nice to learn about new things.'

'We made the sun, it's very hot and big.'

We created a paper mache solar system model.

'This helped us learn the order of the planets'

We also designed our own space crafts.

'My favourite was making the planets and junk modelling.'

We learned about the three main parts of a NASA spacecraft and used these to help plan for our junk modelling design.

The cola bottle is the fuel tank, the prime bottle is the orbiter and the toilet rolls are the rocket boosters.

Here are some pictures of our amazing planet presentations!

Everyone loved hearing about each others research and asked great questions and gave good feedback.

Thanks again to all our home learning partners which helped a lot with this!

Literacy

Comparing and Contrasting

We have also been comparing and contrasting some stories.

This is where we look at similarities and differences between them including the characters and setting.

Below are some pictures of our Daily Literacy Learning activities.

'Letter formation helps with our handwriting'.

Here we are playing word bingo.

Here is a letter sorting activity!

We have been doing some Christmas crafts in class.

In these photos we have recycled Christmas cards to create our own!
