For all grade levels, students have a voice recording assignment each quarter. Assignments are uploaded to Google Classroom. It's important to note that they're only graded for completion, not for skill. They're an important way for me to hear every child's voice individually and find ways to choose the best songs for them and to inform my teaching.
For the 1st quarter, students may sing any song, or part of a song that they choose, with background music or a cappella. Recordings should be about 2 minutes in length, or enough for me to get a good sense of your voice and range. Feel free to sing as long as you like, though!
For the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters, students can choose to sing any of the songs from our winter concert. Students should sing the song along with a practice track or YouTube video, unless otherwise noted.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
Our students use a website called vocaroo to record our voice recordings. It's free to use and has zero ads. See below for technical instructions. It's very simple. Just make sure you turn off the "remove background noise" option or it won't record very well.
All recordings MUST begin with " Hi, Mr. Rappa, this is ___________, and I will be singing ____________" or points will be taken off your grade!
After completing the recording, please copy a link to the recording and upload it to the assignment to google classroom.
The voice memo/recorder app that's already on your phone also works well, especially if you have the google classroom app installed on the phone. You can easily upload your recording directly to the assignment.
Good luck and have fun!
