Rhode Island's state-funded Pre-K classrooms offer a free, full-day, high-quality early learning experience for children who are four years old by September 1. These classrooms are designed to foster development across multiple domains, including physical, social-emotional, language, literacy, cognitive, mathematics, science, social studies, and creative arts. The curriculum is aligned with the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) and is implemented using research-based approaches. Classrooms are thoughtfully arranged to support various learning centers, including literacy, science, art, math, dramatic play, and sensory activities. Family engagement is a core component of the program, recognizing that children benefit when their learning experiences are supported both in the classroom and at home. These classrooms provide a nurturing environment where children can develop essential skills and a love for learning, preparing them for success in kindergarten and beyond.
