For students that may require specialized learning supports while in included programming we develop, implement, modify, and evaluate programming strategies and Individual Program Plans (IPPs) in consultation with students and parents. As students enter high school we feel it is important for them to have an active role in preparing and reflecting on programming strategies and accommodations to help build self-advocacy skills.
We also have access to our specialized learning support team which consists of specialists and professional staff to provide consultation, planning, and problem-solving related to identification and programming for students in need of specialized supports and services.
For students considering knowledge and Employability courses. Please see our student learning plan here.
These classes support students who are learning English. With targeted literacy and vocabulary instruction, students develop their English language proficiency and skills in order to be successful in classes required for a high school diploma and further post-secondary education. Each pathway for high school completion is individualized to support a strong English language foundation.
Interactions programming supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our program focuses on individualized instruction to develop communication skills and social interactions while developing academic skills. Where possible, we encourage students to join a variety of our included classes. Our Interactions classroom has access to new technologies, a sensory room, recreational amenities, and a full kitchen.
