Leadership and Clubs

"If you are looking to be a Wolf I highly recommend you join either the A-team or join leadership. Both are great opportunities to grow as a leader and basic teamwork skills that will be important later in life."

Student Leadership at Dr. Anne

Anderson High School

Our Approach to Learning

We believe everyone in our school is a leader and ambassador. Through their leadership, our students demonstrate social responsibility, ethical citizenry and youth engagement. Our student leaders work upfront and behind the scenes to raise awareness, inspire, educate, support and make our world better.

During a week in leadership class, students will work on leadership skill building. Some practical application of these skills includes working with our graphic designer on effective digital communication, creating profiles for local Albertan leaders, and considering our approach to event planning by understanding diversity and inclusion.

Courses Offered

Hospitality Management explores tourism, hospitality (food and beverage) management, and event planning. The course provides authentic experiences in collaboration with different school and community groups, with the goal of putting on social events that address client needs.

Leadership 15-25-35 explores the theory, social responsibility, and personal awareness of leadership skills. The course provides practical leadership experiences through school activities or events, community projects, and volunteerism or service learning. These students play an important role in building and enhancing school spirit and culture.

Career Pathways

Our aim when working with students on service learning projects or leadership opportunities is to provide opportunities for real world skill development and experiences for students to add to resumes and scholarship applications.

Leadership provides practical career skills for event planning, digital and print communication, and working with others. Students are encouraged to learn their own style of leadership and create a leadership profile and self-growth strategy.

Amplify Awards

Each year, our students have the opportunity to work towards and apply for an Amplify Award, which recognizes students who have strengthened their community through acts of service. Service work is any act done freely with the intention of uplifting a community and advancing the common good. Service work may include volunteering for a school or community event. We want to honour our students who actively and intentionally engage in service work. We will support each student seeking Amplify recognition in creating a professional portfolio that they can use for future applications for scholarships, post-secondary and job opportunities.
