Storytelling TECHNIQUE

The narration for the retelling of this famous universal tale uses the Monomyth technique as it tells the journey of Goldilocks in learning to respect others' boundaries. She journeys into the unknown - the three bears' house and returns home with newfound wisdom.

THE TALE

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher becomes the narrator.

Teacher opens the storytelling box with the three compartments.

NARRATOR : 

Once upon a time, in a forest far away, there lived three bears - Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Baby Bear. They had a cozy little cottage in the woods where they lived happily together.

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher adds miniature figures of the three bears to the storytelling box

NARRATOR : 

  One sunny day, they decided to go for a walk, but before they left, Mama Bear made three bowls of porridge for them to have when they returned. 

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher adds three miniature bowls of porridge to the box's first compartment.

NARRATOR : 

 While they were away, a young girl named Goldilocks stumbled upon their cottage.

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher adds miniature figure of Goldilocks to the storytelling box

NARRATOR : 

 She saw the open door and went inside. The first thing she saw was the table with three bowls of porridge. She was hungry, so she decided to try them out.

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher moves the Goldilocks miniature figure towards the table with the  bowls of porridge figures in the storytelling box.

NARRATOR : 

The first bowl was too hot, the second bowl was too cold, but the third bowl was just right. She gobbled it all up.

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher exchange the porridge bowls with empty miniature bowls.

NARRATOR : 

After eating, Goldilocks felt tired and went to explore the rest of the cottage. She found three chairs in the living room and decided to try them out.

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher adds three miniature chairs and moves the Goldilocks miniature figure towards the chairs in the box's second compartment.

NARRATOR : 

The first chair was too hard, the second chair was too soft, but the third chair was just right. However, as she sat down, the chair broke beneath her weight.

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher exchanges one of the miniature chairs with a miniature figure of broken chair.

NARRATOR : 

After that, she felt tired and went upstairs to find three beds. 

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher adds three miniature figures of beds to the third compartment and move Goldilocks figure towards the beds.

NARRATOR : 

The first one was too hard, the second one was too soft, but the third bed was just right. She fell asleep almost instantly.


While Goldilocks was sleeping, the three bears returned home. They noticed that someone had been in their house and quickly discovered that their porridge had been eaten, chairs had been broken, and Baby Bear's bed was messed up.

INSTRUCTION |

Teacher adds miniature figure of the three bears finding out about Goldilocks antics.

NARRATOR : 

When they went upstairs, they found Goldilocks sleeping in Baby Bear's bed. The bears woke up Goldilocks. She was scared at first but the bears were very friendly, and they all sat down to eat some porridge together. The bears were very forgiving and they decided to forgive Goldilocks! They played games, sang songs, and had fun together.

From that day on, Goldilocks and the three bears became the best of friends. Goldilocks learned to always be respectful of other people's things. And whenever they had a party, Goldilocks would always bring her favorite bowl of porridge - not too hot, not too cold, but just right.
