Hello Families!
My name is Marie Nitz and I am the Transitional Kindergarten teacher in District 86. I have been teaching in this district for 9 years and graduated from Bradley University with an Early Childhood degree and Special Education/ESL endorsements.
Mrs. Graves is my classroom aide and has been in the district for many years. Mrs. Graves has served as a 1:1 paraprofessional, classroom professional, and is excited to be in the TK classroom. Mrs. Graves has a heart of gold, and loves to assist students to meet their educational goals.
We could not be more excited to be working with such a wonderful community and teaching this very special class which is so unique and necessary for some of our students before entering Kindergarten! This is the second year of Transitional Kindergarten and it has been a big success with regards to test scores for the students the following year in Kindergarten.
In our class, we are a family. The moment you and your child step through our classroom doors, we are a team. I will spend this year advocating for you and your child while teaching them core pre-kindergarten skills to make their upcoming year a success. Confidence, academic skills, and emotional regulation are our main goals and this class is a wonderful bridge to helping your child feel excited about going to school and ready for Kindergarten.
