Hello again, singers!
We will have 1 more opportunity for you to pick up your Choir Certificate(s) Friday, May 22nd! EHS Seniors will be picking up their Grad. info & boxes as well at the school, so we are also approved to be able to do our "grab and go" EHS Choir Awards pick-up! I'm including this for Middle School Choir members as well!
Having said this, the Seniors have very specific guidelines for their pick-up day, so we will be honoring similar guidelines (please discern what would apply to you below, vs. the seniors, etc). I will include these guidelines here, and then will update with our Choir-specific info below that:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EHS Parking Lot
LAST NAMES: A - L (12:00 pm - 1:00pm)
LAST NAMES: M - Z (1:00 pm - 2:00 pm)
Graduation caps and gowns, cords and stoles, will all be distributed.
Please help us out and review the following process in order to make this a fun, positive and safe event for students and staff alike.
We need your help! In an effort to comply with all Colorado and Arapahoe County requirements regarding the Covid-19 pandemic please be aware of and adhere to the following requests:
Throughout the entire time on campus, please do not get out of your cars.
Items will need to be passed into your trunk or another designated area of your vehicle. Please make sure you have appropriate safety wear (masks, gloves, etc) so you feel safe receiving them. Do your part to help our workers remain safe as well.
Please limit the number of family members in the vehicle to as few as possible.
Please observe all signage, traffic personnel, and other drivers. Safety is our #1 priority.
In an effort to make this new process as efficient as possible, please make note of and prepare for the following:
PLEASE help us out with traffic flow by arriving during, not before, your suggested time:
LAST NAMES: A - L (12:00 pm - 1:00pm)
LAST NAMES: M - Z (1:00 pm - 2:00 pm)
Please window paint, make a sign or create another way to display your last name (or your student’s last name) on the front of your vehicle. This will help us immensely as we try to navigate the flow of traffic and will also help us out at the end of the parade on Saturday as we pass out the graduation kits that include the diplomas
....N/A
Be patient! This is obviously a new process for everyone and there may be times when our line slows or that you are asked to wait.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that you have seen these guidelines, I'm going to suggest that since you are not a Senior coming for that info, perhaps you simply have a piece of paper showing "Choir" or "Choir Awards Pick-up" (hold up in your car window). This way they will know you are at the school for a different reason. Mr. West (and Mrs. Hart) know we are doing this, but not everyone helping tomorrow may know this, so please be patient if you are not allowed to go around a line of cars, or have to wait, etc.
I will station myself at the Auditorium entrance double glass doors, just off the north side of the EHS parking lot (unless I find that I need to do otherwise once I am there - you'll see/find me somehow!). When you pull up, I will bring your award certificate to your car (as the request above states, so that no one is getting out of their car). Just let me know where upon your arrival (point, gesture, roll down your window, etc.).
It MAY be that when those working the Senior pick-up tomorrow see that you are here for Choir Awards (there are fewer of us than there are Seniors, since some have already picked up their award), that you are allowed to go around and/or the protocol for us may look more like the other day when you dropped off your Chromebook. If so, go with it at the time (as in - if we find that you are allowed to get out of your car 1 at a time (with mask on) & come pick up your certificate from me at the Choir "Station"). Until we find out otherwise, go with the guidelines/protocol for pick-up noted above.
I look forward to seeing you soon (from a distance)!
Mrs. Saddler
If you CAN'T make it tomorrow, please either arrange for another Choir Member to pick it up & get it to you (you MUST email to let me know if this is the case, and this MUST be approved by both sets of parents), OR let me know so that I am not waiting/wondering for 2 hours if it is unnecessary). This way I know I can hold it for you until the Fall. However, I do hope most or all can make it - as it's better and more fun to have your certificate NOW while things are fresh & ready to go!
Keep the Singing & Music going!
Mrs. Saddler
Hello singers!
Remember tomorrow (Wednesday, May 20) is turn-in day at the school, but it will ALSO be our Awards Pick-up day!
I will be at the school from 4:00-5:30pm, just off the High School parking lot near the Auditorium/Blackbox entrance - and just outside the glass double doors.
You can pick up your award certificate(s) at that time.
Continue to stay updated here & in school email, as this time may change.
Remember all school distancing & mask guidelines MUST be followed.
Hope to (from a distance) see you then, and I hope you are well! :)
SO exciting! The MIOSM EHS and TEC-MS Virtual Choir is released!
We were 3 days from our DISTRICT CONCERT, when COVID-19 shut down our schools & events. We had a a creative and unique theme to our District MIOSM Concert this year: "Elements and Sounds of Nature and Our World", where every song from every choir related back to the sounds of our world - whether representing a culture, the human experience and expression, creativity, nature, unique sounds that we experience in our lives, or even that of fire, water, wind, and rain! We will have our "AUDIO CHOIR" songs ready to present soon as well (songs that the individual high school and middle schools choirs had prepared), but the VIRTUAL CHOIR represents our "big piece" where all 200+ voices, from elementary, middle and high school levels, would have come together in song (and would have made it "rain on stage" too!). While we were not able to do this live, and while we have just a small representation here, it is no small task to create a virtual choir - and is our way to come together...even when we are apart! :)
Enjoy! Feel free to share it with your family and friends! Thank you SO much to those who turned in their videos - what a tremendous way to represent not only Choir, but the power, creativity, and joy of music. A true gift at any time, but especially during THIS time.
A HUGE shout out to Ms. Karla Shotts (EHS Teacher and Media expert), and her son Dillion, and daughter Kelsy (ETC alumni), for producing and compiling all of this!!!
https://thepirateer.com/5617/a-e/concert-revived/
Our AUDIO CHOIR songs will be released in the next 1-2 days as well, bringing us a "taste" of what our concert would have been (well, kind-of, but at least it's everything we could have done at this point!)!
Remember to practice "making it rain" :)

While it is quite interesting moving forward with having a LIVE PERFORMANCE Class online, we are making the best of it!
Following are some online platforms we are working with!
This Website!
Student school email
Zoom meetings
Sight Reading Factory - an excellent to keep working on & improving music literacy! Directors from all over use this learning tool, and it has proven to be a wonderful aid to better music reading skills!
FlipGrid - a way for students to upload practice successes, singing tests & trys, video creations, and more!
Classics for Kids - a fun way to further explore music through music games, composers, and more!
Chrome Music Lab - a fun way to further explore music through music games
Other & various music and video post sites to enhance learning: choir games, videos, activities, vocal warm-ups, sight-reading exercises, practicing songs, and of course music learning!
How are you??? I can't wait to see you all tomorrow (Wednesday) - LIVE on Zoom during our 1st online "class" time (more on this in your Google Classroom communications). I hope you have been well & taking advantage of this time to accomplish and try healthy & creative things, & even ideas noted in our Choir Google Classroom "Extended Break" ideas post!

Greetings, Choir Students, Parents & Families -
As you may have deducted by now, we will not be having our MIOSM rehearsal and Concert next Monday & Tuesday 3/16 & 3/17, as schools across the state & nation are closing. While it will be a challenge to reschedule this upon our return (so please be looking for updates), and may even become impossible due to many items needing to be rescheduled, we will still revisit the opportunity for our rehearsal & concert after April 6, or some form of an opportunity. Students should continue to review their MIOSM Music & practice tracks/samples in light of this. EHS Choir members will still look to participate in the CHSAA Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, April 18, pending further information from our school and state leaders on next steps during these unprecedented times.
NEW CONTEST UPDATE (as of 3/17/20): CHSAA has cancelled all music contests to the end of the school year, so EHS Choirs will NOT be attending Solo & Ensemble Contest on 4/18/20.
To all, I wish you peace, health, and safety, and may music perhaps be one avenue to experience this over these next days.
