Plagiarism is using other people’s ideas or words without giving them credit for that information.

How do I know if I am plagiarizing?

You plagiarize when you copy information or research from a book or a website without letting your teacher know where it came from. To avoid plagiarism, your assignment or research project should have a bibliography at the end.

What can I do to make sure I do not plagiarize?

To make sure you do not plagiarize your work, add the resource to your bibliography whenever you:

• Use another person’s idea, opinion, or theory.
• Use any facts, statistics, graphs, drawings-any pieces of information-that are not common knowledge.
• Use quotations of another person’s spoken or written words.
• Paraphrase another person's spoken or written words.
