Cluster 2: Engineering Design & Control of Kinetic Sculptures

Week 3

Mini Sculptures

This week, cluster 2 worked on mini sculptures in teams. After brainstorming ideas for their mini sculptures, they presented their ideas to each other.

They used RobotC to program an NXT and sensors and motors, made a simulation of their sculpture on Working Model 2D, and made their sculptures with the parts in the design studio.

Through these projects, students learned how to work together, problem-solve, and improve their science communication. Each team shared their projects with the rest of the class to receive feedback and help each other where there were problems.

Programming

During programming after class, students got to try out all kinds of activities. Programming this week was great because students got to try things they had never tried before such as calisthenics, meditation, pearler beads, and badminton.  These activities balance out all the classwork, so students get to have fun and run around just as much as they work hard studying.
