Some Lab Writing Tips:
Your report should be clear and concise. Reports must be typed and submitted via Canvas. It is your chance to demonstrate to the TA how you understand the experiment(s).
Include the names, PIDs, lab day, time, and section (e.g. Sect. A51, Tue 12:00p-3:00p), and prelab.
Your report should answer any questions that might be directly asked in the instructions or from the TA. Avoid one sentence answers.
Attach to your report all data printouts from the experiment(s). Title and label all printouts and graphs you make. What signals are you displaying?
Your lab report MUST be formatted in the following way:
Introduction: What is the purpose of the lab. (Concise, ~1 Paragraph)
Procedures: Must be bullet-points. Briefly explain the steps you took as you executed your experiment. Should not include any important analysis/data. Write this portion in such a way for someone else to come up with the same results if they followed your steps. (MAX 1 page)
Analysis: This includes data, circuit diagrams, prelab, printouts, and answers to questions from lab. It is important that this is a discussion of the experiments which includes an explanations of results. (i.e. Why? How? Implications?)
Conclusion: In general, discuss what principles the experiment(s) utilized and anything else that needs further discussion. (~2-3 Paragraphs)
Be sure to include important circuit diagrams in all of your reports. How are your discrete components connected to the ICs? What wires connect to which pin? How many volts are you powering your IC with? Have it drawn in such a way for someone else to reproduce your results.
