About the Service: The CloudLabs:AppStream is an Amazon/AWS cloud-based virtual desktop service providing access to a Windows desktop environment preset with requested applications. All the students want to use Vivado remotely should go through the tutorial below.
No browser extensions or plugins are required to use AppStream 2.0 in a web browser.
Users can access AppStream 2.0 through an HTML5-capable web browser on a desktop computer such as a Windows, Mac, Chromebook, or Linux computer. HTML5-capable web browsers that can be used include the following:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Safari
Microsoft EdgeMicrosoft Internet Explorer version 11 or later
Users can also access AppStream 2.0 fleet streaming sessions on the following browsers and devices:
Chrome or Safari on an iPad (iOS 11 or later)
Android (Android 8 or later)
Microsoft Surface Pro (Windows 10) tablet
Note: AppStream 2.0 is not supported on devices that have screen resolutions smaller than 1024x768 pixels.
Dual-Monitor Support is available via the web client.
How to use this service:
When an account has been created for you, log in at cloudlabs.ucsd.edu
Click on the ECE general Desktop to use the vivado.
3. On the Main AppStream Portal Page, click “Desktop” to launch your virtual Windows desktop. It may take a couple of minutes.
4. Log in to your UC San Diego Windows Account (and wait as it connects).
5. You will see a Windows desktop appear. You can now use this AppStream environment.
6. Click on the Vivado software to start.
Troubleshooting Tips:
You may encounter the following error message during peak periods. If so, please wait 10-15 minutes and try again. (Amazon automatically expands our CloudLabs environment with an additional 50 seats whenever > 75% utilized, but the new capacity takes 10-15 minutes to come online.
