Welcome to ECE 25! You will find announcements and information including recommended text on this website. Please check this class website regularly to stay up to date.
The website is now updated for Fall 2020. Please email Vince Chen(bic015@ucsd.edu) if you find any errors.
Lab information:
Labs are held online through Zoom on ODD weeks (No ECE 25 labs hours on ODD weeks), and so the first lab sections will start on week 1. Lab 2 will start on week 3, and so on...
Things to do on Week1:
All the labs are completed using Vivado on Virtual Labs or Vivado installed on your personal Windows Machine (Vivado is not available for Mac). Please get the working environment ready. You can also start doing the lab by following the lab instructions (under "Lab Assignments").
For those who want to use remote Virtual Lab to get access to software, you should follow the steps above to log in CloudLabs https://cloudlabs.ucsd.edu/.
Or you can download Vivado on this website: https://www.xilinx.com/support/download.html
Download the web installer, sign up an account and log in
Choose installing "Vivado"
Choose "WebPECK" version, which is free
You can test its functionality by running codes in Lab1. If you see the error "FATAL_ERROR: PrivateChannel: Error connecting to server socket" when running the simulation, please turn off your firewalls and restart OS.
Attendance:
Due to the remote delivery of the labs, and the possibility of having students who reside at different time zones, lab attendance is not required; however, it is highly recommended. In the past quarters, students found the labs very difficult to do without the help of the lab TAs. You are allowed to attend any scheduled lab session that works best for you. You can attend the particular session’s Zoom meeting at any time during the scheduled time block, and ask lab-related questions. Our TA team is happy to help you.
For the first lab:
Read "Lab Syllabus", "Lab Write-Up Tips", and Lab 1 (see "Lab Assignments").
No prelab for the first lab.
Lab is done individually.
If you do not finish the lab in time, there are lab tutors available to assist during open hours (see "Lab Schedule").
The lab reports are due on Saturadays of the week following every week’s lab. For example, lab 1 is scheduled in week 1, and Lab 1 report will be due on Friday of week 2 at 11:59 pm. Please submit your reports to Gradescope.
Future labs:
There are open hours with lab tutors available every week (see "Lab Schedule") for completing prelabs and labs.
