Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Fabricated and validated PVDF sensors
Adhesion supplies ordered
DAQ testing in progress
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Met with Dr. Loh and Morgan for project scope clarification (4/2)
Established weekly meeting time of Wednesday 2pm with Dr. Loh and Morgan
Retrieved supplies from ARMOR Lab and distributed to team
Checked out all necessary materials from ARMOR Lab including 4 channel oscilloscope!
CAD for test stand and DAQ housing (Reuben)
CAD Acrylic face and sent to outside manuf. for production (Reuben)
Soldering kit ordered and received
Fabricated 4 new PVDF sensors (Kaitlynn)
Validated sensor parameters (Kaitlynn)
Soldered header pins to Teensy to kick off rapid prototyping process (Michelle)
Confirmed that and experimented with the capabilities of the NRF24L01 wireless transceivers (Michelle)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Hand off PVDF sensors for adhesion and testing (Kaitlynn)
Fabricate graphene thin film sensor (Kaitlynn)
Send CAD to Armor Lab employee for test piece to be 3D printed--depends on Acrylic Face arrival (Reuben)
Adhere newly fabricated sensors to golf face and hand off for DAQ test (Reuben)
Develop signal conditioning (attenuation) circuitry for DAQ input (Chris)
Measure PVDF Signals using National Instruments DAQs and Teensy DAQ (Chris)
Continue testing DAQ types and make final DAQ design decision (Chris)
Pick up waveform generator from ARMOR lab (Chris)
Confirm compatibility between Teensy and NRF24L01 wireless transceivers (Michelle)
Choose which program and start skeleton code to interpret/analyze/display data (Michelle)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Dr. Loh received PVDF sheet and will drop off in ARMOR Lab (4/2 via Zoom); Chris picked it up from lab
Dr. Loh approved us to check out equipment from ARMOR Lab (4/2 via Zoom)
Dr. Loh suggests asking Han about Modal Hammer (4/2 via Zoom); Chris asked Han in person, and picked it up from lab
Dr. Loh and Morgan suggest a drop test on a 3D printed golf face to calibrate force. After calibration, the sensing strategy can be moved to a metal plate with a high level of confidence that it'll work even though it isn't calibrated for a metal plate. Dr. Loh thinks this would be a good deliverable (4/2 via Zoom); golf face CAD created for 3D printing and exploring acrylic laser cutting options to downsize force
Index number is set up. Dr. Loh doesn't have the number, but he said it shouldn't affect our reimbursement and that all purchases go through him anyway (4/2 via Zoom)
Sign IP forms and send to Dr. Loh (4/2 via Zoom); emailed and received by Dr. Loh on 4/2
Dr. Loh confirmed material list for check out (4/2 via email)
Dr. Loh will find out the index number. Fund from TaylorMade are here (4/4 via email)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Work in parallel (4/1 via Zoom); Kaitlynn and Reuben work on new sensor fabrication/adhesion while Michelle and Chris start DAQ testing with the old sensors until they receive the new sensors
Have the progress report uploaded to Webpage by 8pm the night before every meeting (4/1 via Zoom); progress report updated
Send email with a few bullets for what we are going to work on the next few days (4/1 via Zoom); email sent to Dr. T on 4/1
Add more analysis since we have less testing to do (4/1 via Zoom); we were able to check out the oscilloscope from ARMOR Lab, so we can conduct our testing!
Dr. T prefers students to go through Roxanne for purchasing. We can get items delivered to our home addresses instead of UCSD (4/1 via Zoom)
