Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Tested 2 layered sensors adhered to back of aluminum plate.
Attempt to increase resolution by layering 4 sensors on aluminum plate.
If resolution is improved, test 4 sensor arrangement on circular titanium plate.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Graphene-based thin film fabrication demo on 3/10
Toured TaylorMade Headquarters on 3/10
Met with TaylorMade Senior Vice President of Research, Design, and Engineering Todd Beach
Met with TaylorMade Senior Research Engineer Brandon Woolley
Circular titanium testing plate obtained from TaylorMade
Opened golf club driver obtained from TaylorMade
Completed Week 10 Presentation on 3/12
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
CAD aluminum plate test piece stand (Reuben)
Fabricate aluminum plate test piece stand (Reuben)
Fabricate and test layered 4 sensor arrangement (Kaitlynn/Reuben)
Calibrate sensor with known force (Kaitlynn)
DAQ Validation: Need to use oscilloscope at high sampling rate to identify exact time of impact, to find exact minimum sampling rate. Need to test different data acquisition systems with waveform generator set at high frequency to identify actual sampling rates and resolutions. (Chris)
DAQ Testing: After validation of DAQ parameters, implementing, designing and constructing circuitry to collect data and transmit it to a computer. (Chris/Michelle)

Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Dr. T suggested use of a pendulum for a controlled dynamic load test in person on 3/12.
Dr. T noted the variation in our results in person on 3/12. We are going to use a static load to have more precise measurements.
Dr. T asked if we needed a micro-controller if we just need to sample fast in person on 3/12. Yes, we want to be able to store the data and send it.
Dr. T asked if we ruled out other sensors in person on 3/12. Dr. Loh prefers us to use the technology being developed in the ARMOR Lab (PVDF or graphene-based thin film).
Dr. T told us on 3/12 to include the names of those responsible and to be more detailed for goals for next week.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Need to figure out how to record and store data for more than 4 sensors at a time. Currently limited to 4 sensors based on 4 scope channels. If we want to further increase resolution, we will need more sensors.

Schedule
CAD and fabricate a test stand for the sensor to optimize testing procedure.
Using the test stand, test the layering of 4 sensors to achieve increased resolution.
