April 27, 2020 - May 3, 2020
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
First prototype printed and assembled, new improvements suggested
Second prototype finished on CAD and sent to sponsor for printing
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Patent filed
Shaft to handle attachment created
Open top design for manufacturability
3-4 mm width reduction of shaft
Separate hook on staple for manufacturability
Tabs and clips were modified to be looser since first prototype was hard to snap
Thinner and shorter handle
More ergonomic trigger
Trigger is now hollow
Staple CAD created for preliminary testing
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Print and test second prototype - Sponsor + Team

Look into biodegradable filament
Might be hard to get metal wire for staples
Torsion springs for return system
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
This might be a disposable design
Risks and Areas of Concern
New hook design needs to stay on under pressure when stapler is actuated - can't unlatch during use
Shaft and handle attachment needs to be tight enough so it doesn't fall apart
Design for Manufacturability still questionable but is being improved
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Can't get FEA to work
Schedule
Our focus right now is:
test the prototype
obtain wire for staples
add ratcheting system
work on FEA
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$1 spent on 3D print, $5999 remaining
Progress on Report and Webpage
Report should be half done for first draft
