Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Working on building full working prototype. Putting together parts we've purchased and combining headframe, L frame
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Machined rail attachment to attach platform to L frame
Machined L frame and noticed size issues- too long and thick in some places, and we are modifying design to not have screws going toward the head
Modified L frame to have countersink screws and slot for velcro
Modified rail dimensions to fit M4 screws and 1/4"-20 bolts. We lasercut the polycarbonate rail and found that it burns so we plan to machine it for next week
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Machine new L frame design- Carter, Jessica
Machine new rail and test friction/anti rotation methods (see risks section)- Claire, Kaj
3D print new probes- Percy
Assemble all parts together- all
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Emailed sponsor last Friday 2/7 to schedule meeting and haven't heard back- we will be following up. Also sent him recent photos and designs but haven't heard back
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
During presentation last week, Thursday 2/6: Instructor agreed with our idea to countersink screws so that the screw is sticking out away from the head and using a thumb nut to tighten on the rail/gross positioning mechanism. We are modifying the L-frame to reflect those design changes and are testing this week.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)

Risks and Areas of Concern
The rail attachment holds the weight of the probe and fine positioning platforms, but a small amount of rotating pressure can loosen the screw. Possible solutions:
Glue the rail to the platform (easiest, issues arise if we have to change design)
Drill new hole in platform (invasive, concerns about breaking platform)
Make L-shaped flanged rail attachment to reach second screw on bottom (most work)
trying this option for now
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Exact size of probes- we can't physically keep them and are concerned about tolerance/accuracy of our initial measurements
Schedule
Assemble prototype
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Amount spent this week: $16.91- Home Depot
Amount remaining: $1437.73
Progress on Report and Webpage
First draft of report turned in last Friday. We are taking feedback into consideration and updating
