Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
received peristaltic pump and ready to do some testing with it.
finished design a prototype for the funnel. we will print a prototype to test if it works for the viscosity this week.
almost ready to purchase conveyor components.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
placed order for holder components and peristaltic pump.
learned some PLC basics so we can explain to our sponsor
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
test control algorithm and functionality of the pump using Arduino (Kaiwen Dou; Genggeng Zhou)
Place order for conveyor components (Bowen Li)
build and test funnel on the holder (Zhanqing Huang)
Start process components for the holder if they arrive this week (Zhanqing Huang; Genggeng Zhou)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Our sponsor is more comfortable with PLC as the control unit for our system. we are going to use Arduino for testing purposes. meanwhile we are going to study PLC programming and order PLC parts.
our sponsor is happy that the holder only needs one bearing and precision shaft now because it is going to further lower the cost.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
we should check with our sponsor to determine if we should use Arduino or PLC (Jan 14th in person during presentation); our sponsor is more comfortable with PLC instead of Arduino
the holder is over constraint, only one bearing and precision shaft is needed. the other one only have to be a regular shaft and clearance.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
we should explain the control system we use more clearly (Jan 14th in person during presentation); we started looking into PLC control and we will determine which one to use on final product after meeting with sponsor.
