Project Objectives
High Priority Objectives
Patient comfort: Make process of radiology treatment more comfortable than existing system
Second Priority Objectives
Ease of entry/exit from device: Process of patient getting on and off the device must be simple and convenient
Ability to be set up by single individual: Device should install and uninstall easily without need for additional help
Other Constraints and Issues
Materials selected should not be metal or interfere with MRI/ Radiology machines while in use
Design must be compatible with existing devices and reusable between patients
Maneuverable by one person
Design Goal
Fully functional patient support table that provides increased comfort for patients while being easily installed, and stored by a single individual
Risk Reduction Strategy
Gathering data on air pockets to determine what material to make them out of, what is the maximum amount of times they can be used, and how many are necessary to provide comfort without overcomplicating the design
Running radiation tests on various foam densities to better decide which material provides both comfort and is not affected by radiation
Intermediate Milestones
End of April: Air bladders and foam to test overall comfort of device.
End of April: Send tray to be manufactured.
June: functioning prototype that allows patients to easily get on the machine and be comfortable while also being easy to install and store
