Dr. Delson suggests looking at magnetic tape drives since they transfer material from one spool to another.
Do they use 1 or 2 motors?
Do they have a tensioning device such as an idler or a spring?
Since hand wrap failures are rare, how are you going to quantify the value added by automation?
How was the force vs strain plot measured?
How does the FBD on slide 14 of the presentation indicate minimal force to peel is at 90 deg?
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Students suggested to look at sewing machines for ideas about spool to spool transfer mechanisms.
