Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
The 36 coil array is assembled and ready for testing to see if it can stir the vials at the desired RPMs.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Received the machined steel plates and iron cores from the Campus Research Machine Shop.
Assembled the magnetic steel plates, iron cores and the coils for the 36 coil array.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Design the inner layout for the components in the housing (MAE-Anna and Seth)
Design the PCB (ECE-Joshua)
Test the 36 coil array (ECE- Rendale)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Concerns about the factor of safety for the battery selection. Based on our previous calculations, we need 2 batteries connected in parallel, the sponsor suggested to pursue 4 (Feb 08 in person).
Need to order PCB soon if want to implement it by the end of the quarter (Feb 08 in person).
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Concerns about whether the magnetic strength is strong enough for stirring the solution. (Feb 06, in person)
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Advice on how to improve the Arduino code and increase its efficiency (Feb 06, in person).
Concerns were given to us about reducing the current will reduce the magnetic field too low (Feb 06, in person).
Risks and Areas of Concern
Reducing the current will lead to a longer power supply but may not provide enough magnetic strength to spin the solution at 1500 rpms.
need to investigate the tradeoff between battery life and magnetic field strength.
This will be done this week with the assembled 36 coil array.

Schedule
Design the inner layout of where all the components will go by the end of this week.
Look to get the inner layout 3d printed
Determine the configuration of the H-bridges for the 36 coil array.
Determine the required current needed to spin the solution at 1500 rpms.
