Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We are currently trying to understand last year's project. Specifically, the schematic for the electrical components as well as being able to understand how they interfaced with the microcontroller.
We are finishing the individual component analysis on the inductive charging capabilities and the winding of the coils to see how to produce the strongest magnetic field.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
We machined 3 housings of different materials and tested to see if the device would be completely sealed to pass IP67 testing.
We were successful in sealing the device and will use the results from our risk reduction near the end of our project.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Design the housing on the device that can have dimensions adjusted easily.
Look into outsourcing the carbon steel magnetic core plates.
Meet with students from last year's IKA Project.
Meet with the ECE students and our sponsor to have the first official group meeting
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
We sat down in person with our sponsor on January 11, 2018:
Sponsor wants us to investigate the iron cores used in the device
He said that it would be labor intensive to manufacture the iron cores ourselves. Last year's group did that process through waterjet cutting.
He recommends us to look into outsourcing the cores to save time
Sponsor wants us to design a housing that is readily scaleable
Meaning if we need to change the housing dimensions, it will be quick and easy.
Sponsor wants to have a group meeting once we have the ECE students to talk about ways to control the coils individually
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
We met with Professor Roberts to gain further clarification on last year's project and how the device operates. He advised us to first get a clear understanding of how the device works and then attempt to interface with the device using the code provided from last year's group.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)

Risks and Areas of Concern
Not understanding the connections for the old device as there is no schematic.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
We are waiting to hear from the ECE department for the 2 students that will be joining us on our project.
Schedule
Our upcoming milestone is to design a housing on the device and look for ways to outsource the magnetic core plates
Also, we need to catch up the 2 ECE students on the project early next week.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Amount Spent: $347.17
Amount Available: $3452.83
Progress on Report and Webpage
We have set up some basic information on our webpage and have started discussing the format of the final report.
