Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
One of the Dr. Joiner's student is using the very first prototype( for one monitor) for testing flies reaction to slider crank motion to narrow down the the range of acceleration and frequency.
CAD model of design is complete and has incorporated engineering staff and sponsor's suggestions
Accomplishments from Previous Week
CAD of prototype for 8 monitors completed
Design of Prototype was discussed with Isaiah, Tom, and Sponsor. CAD model has been tweaked after their suggestions.
Ordered Arduino, motor driver, accelerometer, motor
Got usable bearings from Component Room
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
CAD the carriage taking account easy fabrication (Shannon)
CAD the Base and other components taking account easy fabrication (Chris)
Convert Solidworks files to DXF files for Lasercamm cutting (Mark)
Start Programming Arduino through Matlab (Roque)
Lasercamm(All- whoever has time to squeeze in a cut)
Fabrication (All)

Incorporate way to include a easy and clean way for all the fly monitors wires to connect to their data collection.
Make sure mechanism doesn't slip on the incubator rack
Possibility to make it more durable to use as a second function to deprive flies of sleep. Meaning shaking the flies at intervals for 6 hours.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Sponsor mentioned that having different number of monitors(different mass) on the mechanism would provide different acceleration from a the same duty cycle of motor. This is concerning because the consistency is at question. Need to find a way for control algorithm to do this or have a motor be powerful enough.
