Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Mechanism that provides one axis translation motion has been fabricated. Two axis-accelerometer has been incorporated into the device to provide data on the acceleration experienced by the test samples.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Built mechanized testing device.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Incorporate an encoder to the motor. Begin making conceptual designs of 1st prototype.

Dr. Joiner showed concern with a spring based system, therefore, our focus shifted to the design of a system that will utilize the rotational motion of a motor to provide horizontal translational motion. (Comment made in person on March 9)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Professor Tustaniwsky suggested we incorporate an accelerometer into our testing device. A two-axis ±1g accelerometer was incorporated into our testing mechanism. (Comment made in person on March 8)

Risks and Areas of Concern
Motor runs on an open loop system giving us no control of the motor velocity and platform position.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Motor encoder, accelerometer, arduino, and a mechanical stopper. Further information on establishing communication between MATLAB and the arduino.
Schedule
Prepare our risk reduction presentation and set up the project webpage.
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
No budgetary costs have been made
Progress on Report and Webpage
Report has not been started but development of the webpage has commenced.
