Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
The final design has been approved by the sponsors, and is in the process of being constructed. The design has been rendered on AutoCAD and a parts list was made. Materials have been bought. Testing of the carbon fabric cathode sheets are underway as well.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Materials for the sled have been bought and are being cut down to size in order to construct the sled. Carbon fabric anodes have been connected with proper resistors and to a breadboard. Volt-meters were used to measure voltage values of anodes.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Receive the rest of the materials for the sled. (Kyle and Sponsors)
Learn to weld and begin welding. (Everybody)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsors have approved of the design for the sled and wanted us to begin construction of it as soon as possible. The team has begun cutting the frame of the sled as we wait for the rest of the materials from the sponsors.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Professor suggested other vendors to purchase stainless steel pipe that is required for the sled. We are looking through different vendors and talking with the sponsors if they can obtain pipes quicker than we can.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
One student mentioned the possibility of galvanic corrosion due to the mixing of metals. The team has decided to go with all stainless steel for ease of welding and to avoid this possibility.
Risks and Areas of Concern
The sled will be over 200 lbs and is bigger than the current sled. Transporting the sled and running dry test runs may not be possible with current means of transportation.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
A vendor that sells the stainless steel pipe size needed for the sled.
