Weekly Progress Reports (see sidebar), the Gantt chart, and this Project Management page should be printed out before meetings with the sponsor and instructor.
All team members should be able to explain all items on the progress report.
Place a "*" at the beginning of the title of the active week Progress Report (see * in sidebar).
Project Objectives
Concisely list and prioritize the project objectives and constraints
High Priority Objectives
To design a deployment system that can have the carbon fabric anodes generate more power. Original sled size is desirable in order to minimize the load on the boat that is dragging the sled. A multi-layered razor design is the highest priority.
Second Priority Objectives
Secondary priority is to explore ways to make the anodes on the carbon fabric more efficient. One design consideration is to segment the carbon fabric anodes and using conductors to connect the segmented areas.
Other Constraints and Issues
Main constraint for this project is the load experienced by the sled as it is being dragged through the sediment.
WOW Design Solution
Keeping the sled the same size and successfully deploying and burying multiple carbon fabrics.
Risk Reduction Strategy
List areas of risk and strategy that will be used to eliminate risk really in the design process.
Run experiments with original sled in order to find areas of optimization for new version of the sled.
Build small prototype of new sled and blade design and drag through sand box to see how effective the design is.
Intermediate Milestones
Identifying meaningful intermediate milestones is a critical for effective project management. Together with your sponsor identify such milestones, and specify specific performance requirements you aim to meet at each milestone.
