Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.Completed energy analysis of scissor jack
Completed energy analysis of scissor jack
Determined spring constant needed to power linear slider
Compared all linkage design options in a table
Researched safety mechanisms
Ordered springs for prototype
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Developed new designs for scissor jack and linear slider
Began analysis on scissor jack
Began analysis on linear slider
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Build linear slider prototype
Draw locking mechanism in Solidworks

Notes from meeting on 4/17/12
Ideal if device could be left on IV pole throughout set up and operation
Clearance between plates can probably be 2.5 inches
Any levers on the device should be made to go in a downward motion
Prefers linear slider over scissor jack because scissor jack has a lot of pinch points

Notes from meeting on 4/16/12
In analysis, write and label everything clearly
Look into constant force springs
Create table comparing linkage designs
Notes on presentation from 4/17/12:
Describe more clearly the needs of your device early on
What is the mechanism to squeeze bag (spring force or other force)
How is the device held open when an IV bag is being inserted or removed
Build prototype early in order to allow assembly and troubleshooting of problems and to move on to a different prototype if need be
In the pictures of the prototypes, insert an actual model of the IV bag to be more clear about what you are squeezing

Comments on presentation from 4/17/12:
Add pictures to the device comparison chart
Does the device have to be mounted on an IV pole or could it be mounted to the bed?
A lever may be a good way to get the device open.
For the wedge idea, a handle could make it more user friendly
Risks and Areas of Concern
Resources or Information Required but not Available

Progress on Report and Webpage
Began first draft of report
Added background information and pictures to website
