After spring break, we launched the Break-Out Game for students who logged 40+ books.
In 2012, Eminence Independent Schools showcased its commitment to innovation through the construction of the EDhub - a state of the art library and maker-space. In front of our school is a large balloon dog, donated by the architectural firm that designed our expansion.
In some ways, the dog was a personal gift - inspired by a student dear to the district who took his love for learning and service for others into his own hands. In most ways, the balloon dog is a playful, friendly statue that greets us as we enter the school.
So, since he was outside all along, we shared a story about him to create the 2021-22 40 Book Challenge.
You see - every night while the good children of Eminence sleep, Spot, the big blue balloon dog, climbs through a window to visit the library. He loves to read and often hides special trinkets that remind him of his favorite stories. It is obviously true. We have security video evidence.
Well, one night Spot invited his younger sister, Dot, to come to the library with him. Little did he know, that was a terrible idea. Dot is mischievous and occasionally conniving. She ran off and has been messing with all of his favorite books and treasures. We need help to set things right and find Dot!
And thus, the plot of our Break-Out Room 40 Book Challenge grand prize break-out room and the theme of our program.
