The academic schedule is a 15 week semester. The placement schedule, however is weeks 2-14, a 13 week placement. Please refer to the Supervisor Semester at Glance to keep track of tasks required to be completed throughout the semester. The Placement Team will also send friendly emails reminders during the placement.
CALIPSO Registration: New supervisors must register into their Emerson CALIPSO accounts. Once registered, students are able to log clock hours under your name.
Student/Supervisor Contract: This blank contract must be completed within the first two weeks of placement. This contract helps students and supervisors discuss expectations, communication styles, and absence policies. Students are required to submit the completed contract on their Practicum Canvas site.
EBP Assignment Mentorship: Students are required to work on this assignment during their time in placement. Clinical supervisors will not be grading this assignment. Please see this resource for more information about your mentorship role.
Midterm Meeting/Midterm Evaluation: Students are required to complete a Self-Evaluation in CALIPSO and Supervisors are required to complete the Midterm Evaluation in CALIPSO around the midpoint of the term. We expect students and supervisors to hold a Midterm meeting where the Self-Evaluation and Midterm Evaluation are discussed. This is a time to discuss clinical growth, feedback, and goals for the remainder of practicum.
Virtual Site Visit: Site Visits are scheduled during the second half of the term. The meetings are held on Zoom for approximately 20-30 minutes with the student, supervisor(s), and a Speech@Emerson team member. During this time, we discuss student experiences, clinical growth, and any questions that may arise.
Final Evaluation: Supervisors are required to complete the Final Evaluation in CALIPSO at the end of the term. A grade below a B- is considered failing at the graduate school level. If you have a student not meeting this expectation at any point, please reach out to placement_ops@emerson.edu.
