Survey

Drawing from similar surveys deployed by faculty, departments, schools, and the Dean of Students Office, we have created a Learning Resilience Survey template for your use. By knowing the challenges and limitations your students are encountering, you will be better equipped in our instructional planning for remote teaching and, therefore, more likely to meet our learning objectives.

We encourage each of you to send out this survey to your students, if you haven't already elicited this information in another form. The survey was created as a Google Form to allow you to edit and adapt as you deem necessary. Please note the survey is designed to be anonymous to allow students to feel more comfortable and respond openly and honestly.

Step 1: Save a copy of the Form to your Drive

  1. From a web browser, log in to Google drive using your W&M G-Suite account https://gsuite.wm.edu/

  2. Click on the following link to access the Form Template: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Ga8BlwRQ0xLM8nrD30pf7jKiqX31u7YT2rnG59T2d-E/copy

  3. Then click the blue MAKE A COPY link. This will save a copy of the survey to your W&M Google Drive. NOTE: If you are logged into a personal Google Drive account, it will save the survey there. Please pay attention to which account you’re saving to.

  4. You can then make any edits to the survey, including the title that you wish to make.

  5. You can repeat this process to create a different copy of the survey for each course you are teaching.

Step 2: Deploy the Survey

  1. Once you have made any desired changes, please click SEND at the top right.

  2. You will see a new popup window. At the top of the new window, select the Chain next to the "Send Via" text. This will reveal the web address of the form.

  3. When you click on the link, the text should turn blue. Click COPY.

  4. Now you can paste that link into an email to your class.

Step 3: Review the Results

  1. You can view responses at any point by clicking on the form of your Google Drive where you saved it and clicking the Responses tab in the top center.

  2. You will see both aggregated data for the multiple-choice questions as well as the written responses separated into different text boxes.
