2023 Catron Scholars


ADONIS ANDERSON - Adonis used the Catron Grant to attend the Ox-Bow 

Artist-in-Residency Mentorship program in Saugatuck, Michigan. After completing several 

masterclasses, he has begun drafting and designing an original graphic novel.

CHRIS ELIADES - Chris took four graphic design courses through the Rhode Island School of Design's Continuing Education program to learn the Adobe Creative Suite. The project centered on “Designing a Future: Learning Graphic Design Through Art Institutions For 

Academic and Artistic Advancement”.

ELLA GOLDSCHMIDT - Ella spent the summer doing an intensive letterpress course at the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, with Jessica Spring and Chandler O'Leary. 

JOSHUA MINER - Joshua’s project took him to the Schoodic Institute, Winter Harbor, Maine and included the way water shapes competing biodiverse ecosystems to establish 

harmony and the contextual narrative that arises from this blending through art/science investigations.

WILL TATUM - Will explored what it means to grow older while still keeping in touch with one’s inner child, combining text with images to create a book detailing the process. The project is called  "Through a Child's Eyes (and a 20 year old's mind)”.

YAXI XIAO - Yaxi took two workshops related to photography and ceramics in Anderson Ranch and one in Maine with a photographer to learn the photogravure technique. His project is called “Detour”.
