As I continued my journey through the wonderful Classical Greece, I found myself learning about the Classical Greek government. I was able to learn of their rules and how they functioned as a society with these rules. As I wanted to learn more about their government, I knew I needed the help of someone who knew what they were talking about. As I searched for this person to help me understand their ways of the government, I found this man named Aristotle. Through Aristotle I learned how their government was through his observations on democracy, monarchy, oligarchy, and tyranny. Through Aristotle I learned that democracy meant that a city or state was ruled by the people, monarchy meant that a city or state was ruled by one leader, Oligarchy meant that a city or state was ruled by a specific group of people, and tyranny meant that a city or state was ruled by one person who got power through forbidden ways. That helped me get a better understanding of Classical Greek political philosophy. His analysis provided relevant insights of the political systems. I learned what the four types of government rulings were and how they worked. This taught me that their government is very diverse and has changed many times throughout the years. I also learned that through my travels of Classical Greece that easy city states also known as polis had their own form of government. I learned that only men were allowed to be a part of the government, vote, and have the power to make the decisions of their city state. I also learned that I as a Woman and the woman in Classical Greece were not allowed to be like the men and be a part of the government, vote, and have power. Learning all this was very fascinating and kept me wanting to know more and more about the history of Classical Greece.
