From my understanding, anarchy is a way of living without any kind of government or control at all. Many people believe that this entails complete chaos amongst anarchists, when in fact this is not always the case.
Slab city in California is a well known area where permanent residents live out their free filled lives or even visitors, mostly known as “snow birds” who come in the winter months to the warm dessert area to get away from the hectic lifestyle that they may live. Slab city is known for people who want to be as free as possible. This means away from the government, away from electricity, and even away from sewage systems. All residents live off of solar panels, their own waste system, and ONE communal shower to share. The people who permanently live here are known as “slabbers”. These people live off of each other and each others company. A few shootouts and fires set to RVs have been reported in this area due to no one being in charge and no government rules to look over them. This community has set up almost a sort of town of their own. Their town consists of a local library, sculpture garden, two live music stages, a golf course, and many social clubs. The possibilities here seem to be as free and endless as they come.

The Purge is a well known horror movie showing a truly horrifying event known as the “annual purge”. This fictional scenario within a movie portrays a perfect example of anarchy. Throughout the movie, an annual 12 hour period is given where everything and anything is legal. This includes murder, robbery, and truly and scenario that you could think of. There is no leader or judgement whatsoever during this time. There are multiple groups of people who go off on certain missions to accomplish their violent goal. Along with this, there are also certain families who want absolutely nothing to do with the event. These people board themselves up within their houses and do their best to completely stay away from everything going up in to "hypothetical" flames around them. This shows the typical “chaos” that most people connect with the thought of anarchy. Within this movie truly all hell breaks loose. After this 12 hour purge period, life goes back to the way it is usually run, including the normal form of government.
“Anarchy.” Investopedia, 13 Sept. 2010, www.investopedia.com/terms/a/anarchy.asp. Accessed 4 Apr. 2018.
This article brings out to say what would be missing with an anarchy ruling our nation. To begin there would be no protection for the well being of businesses or patents. Along with this, some anarchists believe that private businesses would take care of such things like police and fire protection and building new roads and buildings. Some anarchists simply think differently than others just like it is now in our world when some democrats or republicans think differently than others within the same group. This article simply seems to tell us about the differences in certain anarchists minds and the things that could go wrong within an anarchy. I do not view this article to be biased.

Merriam-Webster dictionary is a website completely for dictionary uses. This page gives definitions of every word you can possibly think of. For anarchy there are four different definitions including the following: absence of government, a state of lawlessness or political disorder due to the absence of governmental authority, absence or denial of any authority or established order, and absence of order. I do not believe in any way that this could be a biased website due to the fact that it simply gives definitions of words that would normally be found in a hand held dictionary as well.
“Anarchy.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 3 Apr. 2018, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchy. Accessed 4 Apr. 2018.
Within Wikipedia, anyone is free to edit the website without many people to fact check the actual information being put on the website. The actual definition seems to be truthful. Their exact definition is this, “Anarchy is the condition of a society, entity, group of people, or a single person that rejects hierarchy.” This seems accurate due to the fact that it coincides with other definitions and articles that I have read.
Christie, Stuart “Anarchy: A Definition.” The Anarchist Library, theanarchistlibrary.org/library/stuart-christie-anarchy-a-definition. Accessed 4 Apr. 2018.
The writer of this article is Stuart Christie. He is a well known Scottish anarchist writer and publisher who has dedicated his life to anarchy. Within this article it is said that anarchy is a way of government without any government at all. This article definitely has a viewpoint leaning towards the good of anarchy. Every person is for himself and there is no higher power to control one another. This is as to say “every person for themselves”. This was thought out so that every individual could be free to do what pleases them personally. Stuart Christie says this, “Whatever the immediate prospects of achieving a free society, and however remote the ideal, if we value our common humanity then we must never cease to strive to realize our vision.” Christie truly believes that Anarchy is the best for the world to be a “free society”.
Goodway, David. “What Does It Mean to Be an 'Anarchist'? | David Goodway.” The Guardian, Guardian News and Media, 7 Sept. 2011, www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2011/sep/07/anarchism. Accessed 4 Apr. 2018.
Within this article, David Goodway describes different viewpoints of anarchy. It is first described in the way that most people view it to be “chaos” and “complete disorder”. Actual anarchists disagree with this view completely. This is actually exactly what anarchist try to prevent. Anarchists want to build from the bottom up and not listen from the top down. This means that they want to build their own peaceful way of living rather than having to listen to rulers from the “top” to live peacefully. Specifically anarchists simply do not agree with capitalism and today’s government. Their main goal is to enforce the freedom of the individual. This is another example of another viewpoint of anarchy. I do not read any bias in to this article.
