Paulo Coelho
Paulo Coelho was born in brazil in 1947. When he was a teenager Coleho told his mother, he wanted to become a writer which she did not approve of. Because of his desire to go against normal paths his parents had him committed to a mental asylum which he escaped three times. Coleho traveled South America for a period then returned to Brazil and became a songwriter. He was eventually arrested by the military government for his song lyrics. Afterwards he went on a 500-mile journey which was a turning point in his life. Coelho left his job as a songwriter to become a full-time writer.
Paulo Coelho wrote, “The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion”. I feel this quote relates him in numerous ways. When he was a songwriter he did not censor his lyrics to appease the government. That shows that Coelho was leading by example not just sitting back doing nothing. Also, when he was a teenager and was put in an asylum he escaped. Even if that didn’t have an enormous impact on the world it did on his life.
This quote holds true by things I have seen in my life. Nothing in the world will change unless there are people willing to go out and change it. For example, some of the subjects we are discussing be it political or otherwise would not be being talked about without people going out and protesting. It is the same in every aspect of life if someone doesn’t like something they can’t just sit back and talk about it they need to go out and change it.
