Timeline for 2024-2025 Course Selections
Course Selection Timeline:
Thursday, February 1 - Incoming 9th Grade Student and Parent Information Night
Friday, February 9th - FLEX / Advisory - info about POS for HS students
February 12 - February 28 - Teachers can make their recommendations in Aspen
Thursday, February 29th - During 8th-grade Advisory, students will watch a screencast from me about the course selection process
Thursday, February 29th at 3:00 - Students will receive an email with their aspen username and a generic password (they will be prompted to create a new password when they log in).
March 1 - 7 - Students will make their course selections
March 4, 5, 6, 7 - HS Counselors will visit Blake Middle School during 8th grade Advisory to help students with their course selections
March 11 - 22 - School Counselors meet with students to go through their student course selections

Instructions to complete course selections
Log on to your Student Aspen Portal
Click on the MY INFO Top Tab
Click REQUESTS Side Tab. The Requests page appears:
At the top of the page, in the Instructions box, read and follow the instructions for entering your requests.
In the PRIMARY REQUESTS box, select your requests for the different subject areas. For example, to select your request for a math course, click SELECT next to Math. The courses you can request will appear.
Your teacher has made course recommendations. A checkmark will appear in the SELECT column. That course becomes a course request when you click OK.
Select the checkbox in the SELECT column of the course(s) you want to request, and then click OK. The request now appear on your REQUESTS page.
Note: To remove a request from your Request page, click the SELECT checkbox again to deselect it.
When entering your alternate requests, you can type a number in the PRIORITY column to prioritize them; type 1 next to the alternate you want to try to be scheduled first, type 2 in the next alternate you want on your schedule, and so on. Please select at least 2 alternate courses.
In the NOTES FOR COUNSELOR box, type any notes to your counselor regarding your requests. Your counselor can view these notes when reviewing your requests.
Your requests will automatically be saved after you enter them on the REQUESTS page. Your counselor can view them at anytime.
After you complete entering your requests, click POST at the bottom of the page. This lets your counselor know that you are finished entering your requests. If you have not selected enough courses to fulfill 35 credits, the system lets you know which area you need to make more requests in.
After March 18th, counselors will go through and approve each students course requests. After requests are approved, you can no longer make changes to your course selections.
