Week 5
May 5 - May 9
May 5 - May 9
On Wednesday, we spent time emailing and reaching out to small businesses to schedule interviews. With our career podcast, one thing that is continuously challenging is finding a time slot where Nora and I, and the business owner, are all free to meet. Nora and I have different AP classes that we have to be in school for, as well as different after-school commitments that consume much of our time, permitting only small windows of free time for interviews. Additionally, since small business owners have very busy schedules, we do not always receive immediate responses to our emails. All of these factors make it difficult to find times to film our podcast episodes, but we are very lucky that every business owner we have reached out to has been so helpful and accommodating to our schedules!
On Friday, we went to the Holistic Wellness Center to talk to the employees in person to schedule a time for our interview next week. Since the owner was not in the store, we provided the employees with our availability for next week, which they will forward to the owner. Once the owner reviews the time slots, we will receive an email back with a confirmed interview date! Throughout our senior project, we have learned that the most important thing when reaching out to businesses is remaining flexible. Since business owners have many varying responsibilities and time constraints, we must offer different meeting dates to make meeting with us an easy process.
On Friday we went to Medfield TV to make final edits on last weeks podcasts and to upload our recent interview. We ran into a slight issue when our audio recorder broke. We are currently in the process of fixing and/or replacing it. But, in the mean time, we will need to work with other resources like smaller and multiple different recorders. We uploaded Episode 3 to our blog back on Week 3 and did our final edits on Episode 4 to also be added to our week 3 blog post. Our next goal is to finish our interview with 21 North from Week 4. But with the everything that went on this week, we find ourselves a little behind schedule.
