Building Flood Test (Test 1)
Current flood-damage analysis practice shows great limitation in accurately predicting damages at multiple scales. Much of this inadequacy is based on whole-building approaches that can accurately predict only high-level damages. This can result in significant analysis error, which leaves states like Louisiana with a very limited tool for accurately calculating the benefits of mitigation projects.
We are working on building a more robust data-driven flood damage model, which supports a detailed analysis of individual buildings and translates to improved damage estimation for building groups.
This project work, originally funded under Louisiana Board of Regents, has been expanded under funding from Louisiana Sea Grant.
