My vision is to continue to grow my research program in developing methodologies by which designers and planners can make informed performance-based design decisions on resilient and sustainable development projects. I also have passion for teaching sustainability and resilience to current and future generations with the hope that that knowledge will carry students forward into the future of engineering and construction. This knowledge is key to solving some the world's Grand Challenges of Engineering.

Louisiana Tech University ASCE/AISC Student Chapter

I am the current Louisiana Tech ASCE Student Chapter Faculty Advisor. The purpose of this group is to increase involvement and knowledge of civil engineering practices through regional and national conferences, as well as practicing professionals.

Every year students in this group compete in several events, including concrete canoe, steel bridge, asphalt rodeo, sustainable solutions and other events. They often place in these events and active members have the opportunity to win scholarships and awards.

Grand Challenge Scholars Program

I am also a member of the Louisiana Tech Grand Challenge Scholars Program Steering Committee. Louisiana Tech is one of the few select schools in the World to have a dedicated GC Scholars Program. As a member of this program, students pursue topics that are shaping tomorrow, gain appreciation and understanding of cultures around the world, and graduate as an internationally-recognized GC Scholar. There are 5 core competencies that students explore as part of the program. These make up the "curricular plan" for students. Louisiana Tech faculty are ready to help you create your own, personalized plan that walks through these elements.
