This Technical Writing course is divided into 2 modules. The first Module is the group recommendation report with instructions, which focuses on researching and recommending collaborative tools in their fields. The groups will start to form at the end of Due Date 2. For accelerated classes, that's after the drop/add. The instructions part of the module starts in Due Date X. Students will be individually writing up instructions for the tool they recommended in their collaborative report. This means students will need to make sure that they're not completing the same instructions, but otherwise, as that point, students are doing the majority of the work on their own; they may want to have their group members complete their usability tests. The portfolio assignments focuses on a professional portfolio with a reflective outcomes letter.
For Fall2022-Spring 2023, the following changes were made:
We have adopted a new OER textbook where needed; please see the Textbooks & Syllabus page for more information.
The group report was converted to an individual project, and the instructions assignment was replaced with a report remix.
The course was updated to align with the new General Education outcomes.
Modules were removed and all DD numbers live as their own modules.
This course has not yet had the instructor manual built in. Right now, there is an error reporting form and a "suggest an activity" form built into the Start Here module that only instructors can see. Please feel free to use those to help improve the courses. The rest of the instructor manual exists in the GDrive folder linked below. There is a built in group conference, but you might also consider having individual conferences when students start drafting instructions.
In addition to the content in the PDCs, there is content in a shared GDrive folder where you will find major assignment prompts that you need to copy in order to update the links in D2L to your own copies. You will also find a course map and suggested schedules for each course length. The elements in red text throughout the D2L shell are intended to help you identify areas that need your attention. The D2L shell and GDrive folder are linked below.
Below, you'll find the link to the PDC and a link to the GDrive Folder content. Feel free to use the PDC link to orient yourself to the course; however, copying over is a different process that is outlined in the Copy Your Course video. Use the title next to the link to search for the correct course. You can find more videos, suggestions and guidance on the Support page.
