This Business Writing course is divided into 1.5 modules. The course was redesigned in Spring 2022. The first Module is a group research report that focuses on the accessibility of a physical or digital space for an organization that the group chooses. The groups will start to form at the end of Due Date 2. For accelerated courses, that's after the drop/add. The second module is a Self-Assessment module that includes application packet materials like resume as well as the portfolio. There is a built-in group conference. *This course fulfills a gen-ed requirement.
The following changes were made:
The textbook bundle was dropped and replaced with OER materials
Module 2 (Professional Materials) was deleted in order to create more space and better scaffolding for the group report.
An email to the organization was added as the "Building Connections" element of the course
The final reflection was streamlined and builds off of self-assessments completed every week by students.
Course converted to Course Maker from the Wildcat Design Package.
All activities except discussion boards were created as webpages for accessibility and consistency.
This course has a draft of the instructor manual built in. Right now, there is an error reporting form and a "suggest an activity" form built into the Start Here module that only instructors can see. Please feel free to use those to help improve the courses; you can also use the suggestion form to make suggestions for improving the instructor manual.
In addition to the content in the PDCs, there is content in a shared GDrive folder where you will find major assignment prompts that you need to copy in order to update the links in D2L to your own copies. You will also find a course map and suggested schedules for each course length.
In the course, you'll find red text with instructor notes to help you identify areas that need your attention. The D2L shell and GDrive folder are linked below.
Below, you'll find the link to the PDC and a link to the GDrive Folder content. Feel free to use the PDC link to orient yourself to the course; however, copying over is a different process that is outlined in the Copy Your Course video. Use the title next to the link to search for the correct course. You can find more videos, suggestions and guidance on the Support page.
