Salter Lab Space Policy 9/22/2021
In general, the Salter Medical Device Laboratory is available for biomedical themed student clubs, senior design projects and BME courses.
Request to access to the Salter Medical Device Laboratory will need to be directed to the Laboratory Management.
Maximum occupancy is 30 students unless otherwise restricted by the university or laboratory management.
All occupation hours will need to be proctored.
Proctors will need to have completed BME210 or BME310 with exemplary performance.
Proctors are responsible for all activities in the laboratory during their assigned time.
A list of proctors will need to be provided to the laboratory management, including each proctor's university email and picture of their catcard.
Proctors will be trained in the use and operation of the lab. Unless training is completed, proctors are not eligible for proctoring.
Meetings in the laboratory will need to be entered into the laboratory calendar prior to the meeting and will need to list the proctor's name and phone number.
When a course meets in the laboratory during the hours listed in the University catalog, by default no other events can occur at the same time in the laboratory. Visits during that time will need be approved by the instructor. Priority for lab hours have: 1) BME courses held in the laboratory, 2) ENGR courses held in the laboratory, 3) Student Club meetings, 4) other events.
Cleanup after each meeting is mandatory.
Furniture on wheels can be moved to accommodate the meeting, but needs to be placed back to the designated location. Furniture includes the chairs which need to be moved back to the tables or stack, otherwise the laboratory is not compliant with disability act.
Projects and equipment must be stored in dedicated storage space and cannot be left out after meetings. Limited storage is available for student clubs.
Laboratory owned equipment will need to be operational whenever a class meets. Student need to work with laboratory management if they need laboratory owned equipment and cannot provide their own.
If not otherwise arranged, courses, student clubs and events will need to provide their own consumables and parts. No consumables or parts can be taken from the lab.
Laboratory management can be reached at 520 258 8000 and utzinger@arizona.edu (Urs Utzinger) and pgutruf@arizona.edu (Philipp Gutruf).
