Sign into GRIT Trigger by scanning your CatCard (you can not sign in if you are not signed into the laboratory)
Turn the red rotary knob on the right side
Make sure there is at least one foot of space between the high pressure metal tube and the wall.
Turn on the laptop and make sure there is USB connection to the Water Jet
Make sure the garnet container is filled with sand. There can not be clumps or other solid materials in the see through container.
Make sure the transparent rubber tubing is connected properly to the nozzle
Make sure the rubber tubing has no water inside and is not clogged
Make sure the nozzle is at the upper most position by loosening the black knob and sliding it up
Fill the water to the top of the bed with the water hose and make sure the drain is positioned correctly
On the Notebook Computer, start the MAKE program.
It will show a red box asking you to home the Water Jet. Agree to the requests and make sure the high pressure pipe and the head is not obstructed.
Place your part onto the bed. Ideally to bottom left is at the cut out location.
Hold down your part at at least two locations with the clamps. Choose locations where the head will not run into them. You can reposition the posts for the clamps.
Adjust the Z position of the cutting head by lowering it with the metal key tool between the tip of the head and the sheet you are going to cut.
Import your DXF file into the LAYOUT program.
Create new layout
Import the DXF
Choose the default settings and let the program import the units/dimensions.
Click AUTOPATH
Click POST
SAVE file
Select Start Point. There are two options and depending on which point you choose the waste material is on the inside or outside of your cut.
SAVE
Right click POST and "open OMX path in MAKE"
In MAKE when path is imported, select Material.
Enter Thickness in mm
Set tool offset to 0.015 inches or 0.38 mm
Jog machine to where your start point will need to be. Press 000 in the X and Y axis fields.
Check outline of your part
Right click Begin Machining: Move to location on path. Do not click on RUN or >.
Select location furthest from start point. Allow head to move there.
Hold down >> or << to make sure your path is clear
Move back to to the start point
Slide skirt on nozzle so that it covers your part
You can decide to run a Test fire which drills a hole and makes sure that the pump and nozzle work. The starting point is a good place to run a Test as its located outside of your part.
Press START to machine your part
Loosen your clamp.
Remove the parts.
Spray down the sand with the shower head.
Make sure there is no water being sprayed into the sand feeding tube
Wipe down parts. Avoid scratching see through cover
Turn the rotary knob off
Drain some of the water.
The nozzle can be removed and cleaned in ultrasonic bath.
The sand feeding tube can be blown out with compressed air.
The Waste at needs to be discarded in container, dried and disposed.
