Exercise 1
Create your first PCB - make an adapter for a SMD (Surface Mounted Device) IC of your choice that will fit on a breadboard - MAX board size is (18 x 20 mm), copies of existing boards are not accepted, dual sided layout of header pins on the breadboard are required. The boards need to work with 3.3V logic of the ESP8266. Careful reading of the datasheet is required.
IC`s available for this Exercise:
AD8232 - Analog front end IC for ECG readout, documentation of existing boards can be found here. Working code can be found here.
MAX30105 - Digital fully integrated package with LED`s and photodiode and analog to digital conversion to perform PPG (Photoplethysmogram) and pulsoxygenation measurement. Existing boards can be found here . Working code can be found here.
LIS2DH12 - digital accelerometer in small package. A challenge for people with steady hands in Exercise 2. Existing code and example of a breakout board can be found here. Working library can be found here.
Min trace width 0.5mm or 0.02 inch
Min dril 0.506mm or 0.02inch
Final presentation includes live demo of the working PCB board and elaboration of the design process including team management discussion.
Presentation time 3 min.
