Basics of Literacy

Based off of community, faculty, student and stakeholder responses, Elysian will work towards supporting students in the Basics of Literacy upon completing their education within our building. The ways this will be done is as followed:

• Providing targeted intervention and support for students who may be struggling with literacy skills, utilizing various instructional strategies and resources.

• The District  will regularly and systematically review, vet and adopt curriculum that is based on the science of reading and aligned to the continual growth and improvement in state and national standards.

• Collaborating with teachers, parents, and community members to create a supportive learning environment that fosters literacy development.

• Offering professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance their knowledge and skills in literacy instruction.

• Incorporating technology and multimedia resources to enhance literacy instruction and engage students in meaningful learning experiences.

• Monitoring and assessing students' progress in literacy to ensure that all students are meeting proficiency standards and are prepared for post-secondary education and career success.

Overall, Elysian school is committed to nurturing proficient and lifelong readers and writers who can effectively communicate and contribute to society.
