PS I Love You Day :
In 2010 the West Islip school community experienced two tragedies, in which two individuals took their lives. One of those individuals was the father of a young lady, whose last words to her were, I love you. This tragedy is a reminder to us all and how truly precious life is., However, tragedy should not be the reason for togetherness, togetherness should be the force that ends tragedies. Thus the creation of P.S. I love you day.
On February 8th, Elwood Middle School participated in “PS I Love you day”. This event is held in schools all over the world and over 118 schools all over Long Island and New York City. Students were asked to wear purple to stand up against bullying and help end depression, and ultimately prevent suicide. The sea of purple that were present in the hallways sent a powerful message that nobody is ever alone.
