When should I contact my child’s guidance counselor?


  • To discuss academic concerns, social/emotional concerns, or behavioral issues
  • To discuss a family issue or concern
  • To discuss individual student needs
  • To set up a parent/team meeting
  • To obtain resources or community referrals


How does my child make an appointment with his/her Guidance Counselor?


  • Students may make an appointment with their Guidance Counselor in the Counseling Center before school, after school, or during lunch.
  • We will do our best to meet with your child as soon as possible.
  • In some cases, a concern may arise that will need our immediate attention.


What do I do if my child is absent from school?


  • Please contact our attendance office at 631-266-5420


How do I request homework if my child is absent?


  • Please check teacher websites/ google classrooms for missed work the day of you child's absence. In addtion, encourage your child to reach out to classmates.
  • If your child has missed 3 or more consecutive days of school you can contact the guidance office at 631-266-5420 x2422 by 9:00 am and we will reach out to staff for the work that has been missed. Collected assignments will be available to for pickup at guidance/ front desk after 3:02 P.M.


When do teachers offer extra help?


  • Teachers offer extra help weekly either before or after school. Please review the Extra Help Schedule on our website for days and times, or email the teacher directly.
  • Students are encouraged to come prepared with questions and are able to see more than one teacher during extra help.


How can I find a National Junior Honor Society tutor for my child?


    • The John Glenn National Honor Society provides a list of studetns who are interested in tutoring by subject. If you are interested in please let us know the subject and we will provide you with the names and contact information of the students meeting your subject area request.
    • Tutoring times and locations are arranged by the parent and the tutor.


When are progress reports and report cards posted?


    • Please refer to the school calendar for progress reports and report card dates.
    • In an effort to reduce the effects of mass paper printings on our enviornment, report cards and progress reports are published to the eschool parent portal.
    • If you require a printed report, please contact our office and we will send a copy upon your request.
