Why do people think and act the way they do? This full year course is a college level class that emphasizes the nature of mental processes and behavior. It explores the enduring issues of Psychology and focuses on such topics as the biological basis of behavior, motivation and emotion, human development, personality, memory and learning. Contemporary controversial issues are explored within the various topics. Research methods and ethics are examined and employed as students formulate positions and support those opinions with factual documentation. Extensive reading is required.

Students enrolled in this academically rigorous course are expected to take the AP examination in May.

To receive AP credit, the student must take the AP exam. AP Test fee paid by students.

Prerequisite: Seniors and instructor approved juniors
