As part of Ohio’s statewide accountability system, students in East Liverpool City Schools (ELCSD) participate in a series of required state assessments designed to measure progress toward Ohio’s Learning Standards. These assessments provide valuable information on student achievement, instructional effectiveness, and school performance.
Purpose of State Testing:
Measure how well students have mastered grade-level standards
Evaluate school and district performance for state and federal accountability
Identify trends in student learning to inform instruction and intervention
Fulfill graduation requirements (high school only)
Test Types by Grade Band:
Grades 3–8:
English Language Arts (ELA): Grades 3–8
Mathematics: Grades 3–8
Science: Grades 5 and 8 only
High School (End-of-Course Exams):
English Language Arts II
Algebra I
Geometry
Biology
American History
American Government
Students must earn a combination of points on these assessments to meet graduation requirements as defined by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW).
Testing Windows
State testing typically occurs during the spring (March–May), with fall retake windows available for high school students needing to meet graduation requirements. Exact testing windows are released annually by ODEW and will be shared with staff and families by the district assessment coordinator.
