Khan Academy is quickly becoming the most widely used learning platform online in nearly all countries. It began with Sal Khan uploading videos to help him tutor his niece in mathematics. The site has grown to include all school mathematics from pre-K through Linear Algebra and Multi-variable Calculus. Students of all ages can learn about math, grammar, science, art history, computer programming, engineering, economics, and history! The list of courses is constantly growing.
The site works fundamentally by serving up video explanations with related problem sets or questions. The site tracks student performance on the problems and serves up new problems responsive to that performance. Students can hop around the site, learning what interests them most. Coaches (the site's terminology for the teacher) and parents can post recommendations for a student to learn next. Coaches and parents can also see their student's progress and where they might be succeeding and struggling.
